Making the Tag:
I cut my tag out of an old manila folder to use as my base tag and cut
my Numbered Notes paper into a tag using the Tag and Bookplate Die.
I glued the cardstock to the base tag, sanded and
inked it using Hickory Smoke Distress ink.
Next I cut Jack out two times out of orange and
yellow scrap paper, and a small
piece of green for the stem.
I used a stylus to draw the lines on the orange paper of Jack.
I place him on an old mouse pad as I drew the lines so
I could get an indention.
I then gave Jack a face by using the  Mini Scary Jack-o-lantern die.
Then I sanded and inked Jack with hickory smoke.
I placed Jack on my tag to get a feel for where he
needed to go and to see how much room was left for
embellishments.
I removed Jack and stenciled some splatters
using black soot at the top and
bottom right corner.  I wasn't sure yet how I was going
to embellish the tag so I put the splatters where I thought
 I might have open areas.
I cut the "HALLOWEEN" strip off of the Graphic 45
paper, inked it and glued it to the bottom of the tag.
Now to finish Jack.
I put the yellow cut out of Jack under the orange cut out
and lightly traced his face onto the yellow Jack.
I removed the orange Jack and took my Distress inks:
Wild Honey, Spiced Marmalade, and Fossilized Amber
and inked the areas for his eyes, nose, and mouth that I
traced onto the yellow Jack keeping near the edges.
I wanted his face to "GLOW" from within...like he was lit.
I gently sanded and inked his "Top" and glued it
to the top of his head on the orange Jack and then placed
the orange Jack on top of the yellow Jack.
I then proceeded to gently glue Jack together at the edges.
I wanted the inside to be open to give him a
3 D effect.  I then attempted to glue him onto the
tag.  He was rather wide so I left part of Jack
hanging off the edge of the tag and bowed him a little
in the middle.  That is how I was able to have Jack's  face
lift off the inside layer.
I wanted this tag to say Happy Halloween BOOthday.
So I got busy trying to figure out how to get this
on the tag in such a small space.
I found the Art-i-cake charm that said "Happy Halloween"
............this is soooo "Perfect!"
So then I took the Thinlits Halloween and Celebrate
word dies and cut out the words Boo and Birthday
two times in black and yellow.  I cut off the Bir
in Birthday and glued  the word Boo to the
beginning of the word in the
black and yellow.
I now had "boothday" in black and yellow.
Then I glued the yellow on top of the black so the
black would shadow the yellow and distressed
it with Spiced Marmalade ink.
I then needed a label for this to go on. I used one of the larger
labels from the thinlits label set and cut it in black and green.
I cut the outer embossed edge off the green and
glued it to the black label. It was a little tight, but I'm
thinking it will work.  But it still needed some
more layers.  I cut a small candle out using the
Birthday Blueprint set, and inked it using Spiced
Marmalade and Vintage Photo, being careful to
leave some yellow in the middle of the flame.
Then I put some glossy accents on the flame.
I placed the word "boothday" and the candle
onto the label....and the oo's in the word
"boothday" said, "We need eyes."
So I got out the word Boo from the Halloween
thinlits die set and cut it in white card stock.  I then
used the circles from inside the o's to glue onto the back
of the word "boothday." I used a black soot distress
marker to make eyes inside the white circles.
I could feel the tag finally coming together.  I place the label
onto the tag next to Jack at the top.  It was going to
cover up most of the splatters, but that's O K.
I  then went digging in my stash and found the ghost and
bat stickers and the google eye brads....Gotta go with it.
I just couldn't work fast enough now.
The bats went on the label and I glued it on.
Jack got some eyes. I put 2 ghosts on the tag, one by Jacks top and
one by his cheek.  I then added the ribbon and the charm.
Ta Daaaaaa!!!!
All Done!
Now to get Will's presents wrapped and his cards signed...Yep
this tag is going on his gift, but I am sure I will end up with
it so I can put it with the rest of my 2015 tags.
BOO!
